For Refugee Women

UPDATED: As of 1 February 2022, we have donated a total of £3,327 to Women for Refugee Women!

We’re happy to announce that we’re continuing our support for charitable organisations through the next three months, between November - January. And this time we’re partnering up with 4 Refugee Women. For every portion of our Santorini Tomato Croquettes sold on Deliveroo, £1 will be donated to REFUGEE WOMEN, a charitable organisation that supports women from around the world that seek safety in the UK.

About Women for Refugee Women:

Women for Refugee Women is a small charity which supports women who are seeking refuge from persecution, including rape and other torture, to rebuild their lives in safety and with dignity. We work in three main ways: to support and empower women seeking asylum; to communicate with wide audiences by telling the stories of refugee women through the media, events and arts projects; and to inform policy makers and politicians about how to build a fairer asylum process.

To make change, women’s voices need to be heard. Through a programme of empowerment activities, such as English classes, yoga, and drama, we support a network of over 300 women in London to develop their confidence and skills. A woman who joins our network will find a welcoming and supportive space in which she can meet other women and begin to rebuild her life, whether that be through speaking her first words of English or leading campaigns for a more just asylum process.

Alphonsine Kabagabo, Director of Women for Refugee Women, says, “We’re so excited and grateful for this partnership with The Athenian. The Athenian and their customers will help fund our work supporting refugee and asylum-seeking women in London. Every woman who joins our network will find a welcoming and supportive space where she can meet other women and begin to rebuild her life. This could be through English classes, receiving mental health support and quality legal advice, or connecting with other women in our creative and educational activities to build friendships and solidarity. We believe that every woman deserves a chance to rebuild her life in safety. Thank you to The Athenian for this great opportunity and for standing with us to show that refugees are welcome.”
